There are eight designs in my puzzle series, all aimed at 2-6 year olds. This one is my little Pygmy Possum!
The series features eight very cute little Tassie/Aussie baby animals, all of which come with facts on the back – adding another layer of learning to the experience. The puzzles are A4 size, and come with a wooden frame and tray. They contain 12 large wooden pieces, making them easy for little hands to hold.
Also, they do NOT come with the picture printed underneath, which naturally makes them more challenging, and a little harder to do, but for early childhood educators and homeschoolers, is handy for assessment ie teachers can easily determine a young child’s ability to complete a puzzle unassisted and without visual clues.
Puzzles are used for assessment for a number of reasons. They are not only highly educational, but benefit children and toddlers, in many ways. They encourage children to look closely at colour, size and shape, and thus help improve observation skills, concentration skills, problem solving skills, logical thinking and reasoning, spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and memory. Puzzles also show children, that with patience and persistence, they can achieve great success, and fully complete a complex task, entirely unassisted. While a child may need help at first, over time, puzzles can provide hours of quiet, calm, fully engaging, non-screen-time entertainment.
Each puzzle is designed by me, and made by Plato Puzzles in Sydney, from recycled Australian timbers, which are glued together with vegetable gum based wood glue, to International and Australian standards, so non-toxic and safe for young children and babies.
